Louise was born and raised in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and began to play the cornet at the age of 6, taking her first trip internationally with a brass band at the age of 7. Under the tutorship of Thomas Barlow and Bob James (CBSO), Louise at the age of 14 took her LTCL diploma alongside the principal cornet seat in Staffordshire Youth Brass Band. In this seat, she took the band successfully to the Royal Albert Hall for the National Festival of Music for Youth.
On leaving full time education, Louise successfully auditioned and joined the only all-female military band in the world, The Staff Band of The Womens' Royal Army Corps.
Louise toured Hong Kong, Cyprus and Germany (Berlin) prior to moving to the Queens Regimental Band which offered the opportunity to visit the Falkland Islands.
Education at the Royal Military School of Music offered Louise the opportunity to be given a new posting to The Band of The Royal Logistic Corps in Surrey offering tours to Australia, Hong Kong, Norway, The Falkland Islands and many opportunities to play at important national and international occasions and for Royalty.
Both during her Army career and more recently, Louise has been a depping cornet player playing with ensembles such as Friary Meux Brass Band, Nightflyers Dance Band, Thirsk RBL Band and as a player and conductor of the bands of The Linclonshire and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Bands seeing tours to Canada, Poland and Ypres, Belgium. More recently Louise has been asked to conduct Kippax Brass Band, Dronfield Genquip band and York Golden RMI band.
Louise has expanded her opportunities by conducting a number of wind bands including Bradford Metropolitan Band whom she served with for a very successful 5 years and and Barnsley Concert Band where she has stepped in to help on occasions.
In 2014 Louise took YBRBL (now The Yorkshire Military Band) to Jersey on a weeks tour and is proud to acknowledge that the band is going from strength to strength. Recently it has performed a weekend of events at the Queen's Hotel, Leeds for the Women's Royal Army Corps Association Grand Reunion.
Louise is a qualified, professional musician with over 35 years experience in performance at the highest level having performed worldwide as a Military Musician. Alongside this, Louise is a skilled brass teacher and also specialises in theory and aural tuition. Having received formal band direction training, Louise is comfortable as a band trainer specialising in Concert/Wind bands or as a Musical Director.
